The practical stuff, booking, cancellations, arrival windows, payment, anxiety advice, and the policies behind our Humanity Over Vanity approach.
Book before you leave, up to 6 months in advance. New clients should expect a waiting period of 2 weeks in winter, up to 2 months in summer. We don't take December appointments for first-time clients.
No, we only accommodate cats on certain days and times to ensure their comfort. Phone, text, or email us to arrange a cat appointment.
We ask for arrivals within 15 minutes either side of your appointment. Those 20+ minutes late risk cancellation with a no-show fee equal to the service cost. Repeated tardiness may result in us declining further service.
48+ hours notice: no fee. Less than 48 hours: 50% of the service cost. Under 8 hours: 100% of the service cost.
Cash and EFTPOS only. We don't accept payment plans.
Small-medium dogs: 1–1.5 hours. Medium-large dogs: 1.5–2 hours. Large-giant breeds: 2–3 hours. Cats: 30–45 minutes without a bath, around 1.5 hours with one.
We ask owners not to stay during grooming. Pets genuinely behave better without their guardian present, owner anxiety transfers directly to the animal. There are cafes and parks nearby to wait.
Regular sessions with the same groomer help, consistency builds trust. You can try Rescue Remedy: 1–2 drops in their water 24–48 hours before the appointment. And, your anxiety transfers to them, so stay calm yourself where possible.
We may muzzle at groomer discretion for safety. We always prefer to work with the pet's temperament, not against it.
Humanity over vanity. Extensive de-matting is painful, and we can't get consent from a pet. We'd rather clip short and let a healthy coat grow back than put a pet through unnecessary pain.
Three common causes: a dramatic length change, restored blood flow to previously matted areas, or a product sensitivity. Relief options include Curash cream, paw paw ointment, or diluted apple cider vinegar (1:1 ratio).
Often yes, exhaustion or adjustment to new sensations, particularly if previously matted. Your own reaction also influences theirs.
Cats may hide, avoid eating or drinking for around a day, especially after a big hairstyle change. Consult your vet if the behaviour persists beyond that.
Our main brands are Petway and Secret Weapon, plus medicated shampoos including Malaseb, Pyohex, and Aloveen.
Yes, for sensitivities or preference. No discount applies, as shampoo is a minimal cost in the overall service.
We can't trim past the quick, the vein inside the nail. If you want shorter nails long-term, ask your vet about receding the quick through progressively shorter trims.
Communication gaps cause most dissatisfaction, photos work best for conveying what you want. Minor adjustments can be made before you leave. And remember: the beauty of hair is that it will always grow back.
New clients: expect a wait of 2 weeks in winter to 2 months in summer. Worth it.
